Custom Z Table Generator

Standard tables stop where the printer decided. This custom z table generator builds the table you actually need: your z range, your step, your layout — generated in the browser from the same distribution function as every table on this site, and downloadable as CSV or PNG.

What people generate, and why

How the generator stays honest

The generator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded, tracked or stored. Every value is computed locally from the standard normal cumulative distribution function — the same mathematics, and the same anchor values (0.00 → 0.5000, 1.96 → 0.9750, 2.58 → 0.9951), as the main z score table and the printable downloads. Nothing is typed, transcribed or photographed, so a custom table can never disagree with the standard one: regenerate any range at step 0.01 and compare cells. Ranges are limited to ±3.99 and 2,000 rows, because beyond ±3.99 the areas change by less than the fourth decimal and a longer table is a poster, not a tool. If your need is a single value rather than a table, the z table calculator is faster; if it is a specific probability region, start from find z score from probability.

Generated values come from the standard normal cumulative distribution — the same source as every table on this site · Verified November 2026

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a PDF of my custom table?

Use the "Print / save as PDF" button: the print layout hides the site chrome and shows only your table, and every modern browser offers "Save as PDF" as a print destination. The result is a clean one-purpose document, identical to the table on screen.

What is the difference between the grid and list results?

At step 0.01 the generator produces the classic grid — tenths as rows, hundredths as columns — matching printed tables. At any larger step it produces a simple two-column list (z, value), which is easier to paste into documents and spreadsheets.

Can I generate a table for negative z only?

Yes — set the start below the end anywhere in −3.99 to 3.99, for example start −3.00 and end 0.00. Values come straight from the cumulative function, so negative rows need no symmetry conversion. The standard negative z score table covers the full negative half if that is all you need.

Is the generated table accurate enough for exams?

The values match published tables at every anchor and are computed, not copied, so accuracy is not the issue — permission is. Most exam boards supply their own table and prohibit outside materials; generate freely for practice, homework and teaching, and use the provided table in the hall.
